IPL 2023 LSG Squad: The Lucknow Super Giants, one of the two new teams in the 2022 Indian Premier League season, finished in 4th place in the previous tournament. The team, owned by the RPSG Group, appointed Andy Flower as their head coach and named Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul as the captain.
The RPSG Group, led by Sanjiv Goenka, emerged victorious in the bidding war for an IPL team with a winning bid of ₹7090 crore (over 932 million USD). This amount was 250% higher than the base price set by the BCCI at ₹2000 Crores.
Prior to the IPL 2022 mega auction, the Lucknow Super Giants signed KL Rahul for a fee of INR 17 crores, Marcus Stoinis for INR 9.2 crores, and uncapped player Ravi Bishnoi for INR 4 crores. During their first season, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock of LSG set a record by becoming the highest-opening partnership in the IPL, securing the top spot on the list.
De Kock made an impressive second IPL century and remained not out with 140 runs while LSG captain KL Rahul scored 68 runs, leading LSG to set a record in their first season. The pair had an impressive partnership of 210 runs in the match against KKR on May 18, 2022, in Mumbai.
