IPL 2023 CSK Squad: As of the time of writing, the four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings, which finished in 9th position in the IPL 2022 Points Table, have suffered from several problems since its mega auction.
As early as the 2020 edition of the league that was played in the United Arab Emirates, CSK has struggled right from the start of the 2022 season. It is worth mentioning that something else is common between both seasons, and that is the absence of the star batter, Suresh Raina, in both seasons.
There are several things that strike the camp apart from Suresh Raina’s absence, such as the lack of continuity in the captaincy of the team. As soon as the season started, MS Dhoni announced that he would be stepping down from the captaincy role and CSK appointed Jadeja as the new captain of the team.
The CSK under Jadeja’s captaincy had won their first match in their fifth match of the tournament which took place against RCB. A massive sum of more than Rs 16.25₹ crore was paid by Chennai Super Kings for Ben Stokes during the Indian Premier League 2023 mini auctions. Ben Stoke played an extraordinary inning in the T20 World Cup final match against Pakistan, and he was also the player of the match.
There has been interest in Stokes from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants, who have taken the price up to well over Rs 10 crores within a short amount of time. Stokes was snapped up by Chennai Super Kings at the last minute, and they paid 16.25₹ crores for him, which was the joint third-highest price ever paid in an IPL auction.
