A deadline for IPL player registration was set for 30th November 2022. The TATA IPL 2023 Player Auction is scheduled to take place in Kochi on 23rd December 2022 and will feature a total of 991 players (714 Indian and 277 overseas).

The BCCI announced the end of the registration window for IPL players. There are 991 players registered for the auction who have shown interest. The number of registered Indian players totals 714. 20 players are from Associate nations, among the 277 overseas players. Some of the available players include 185 capped players, including Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Cameron Green, and Sam Curran.

On December 23, Hugh Edmeades will return as auctioneer for the mini-auction for IPL 2023 in Kochi. Due to health concerns, BCCI was concerned Edmeades would not take part in the Kochi mini-auction during the IPL. It has now been confirmed that the auctioneer will be the part of the event.
